Next-gen Yamaha R15 spied again

Yamaha India has been testing the latest iteration of R15 for many months now. We’ve seen numerous spy pictures of bike being road-tested and one picture was shot inside Yamaha’s R&D center. The bike is seen in a production ready avatar in all the spy pictures, yet there are no official words from Yamaha.

Below is the latest spy picture:

This picture is the clearest picture of the bike till now. Much has been said about this bike in our previous articles on this topic. The changes which are visible include a meatier rear tire, split seats, 10 spoke alloys and a new side fairing. The pillion seat seems to be much higher than the current gen R15. The engine is expected to be same, with a slightly tweaked ECU in order to make up for the weight gain due to the tire. The bike may feature an optional ABS.

We still can’t figure out the reason as to why Yamaha is waiting so long to launch what appears to be a facelift. May be Yamaha is waiting for a major event, like Auto Expo 2012, to launch this face-lifted R15.
