KTM Duke 200 quick glance

[wide][/wide]

We’ve posted about KTM Duke 200 tons of times and it has been speculated innumerable times on the internet. Previously, the company had officially published the specifications of KTM Duke 200 on their website, and the power figures of 25 Ps @ 10000rpm and torque of 19 Nm @ 8000 rpm from a 200cc liquid cooled machine with a dry weight of just 125Kgs was enough to give us goosebumps. Bajaj is all set to launch this machine on 3rd January.

The question that still remains unanswered is if this bike is worth the wait? Well, unless you want to settle for an Indian performance bike that is underpowered, KTM Duke 200 is your answer. Duke 200 comes with a Power:Weight of 184 PS/Ton. You can expect a lot from a bike which weights 136Kgs when filled with 10.5 litres of fuel and 1.5 litres of engine oil. To give you an idea on how this bike would perform, consider Honda CBR250R which weights 161Kgs and generates power equivalent to KTM Duke 200. Yes, it accelerates faster than CBR 250R!

It has got a lovely console, which is the best we’ve seen so far on any Indian made bikes. Combined with the trellis frame, it’s a total beauty. The feature that we would still miss in the bike, despite being an advanced bike, is the ABS. The tank capacity could have been more, but again, let’s not forget that it’s not a tourer. The bike is able to do speeds a little bit above 135kmph on the speedo, but if it wasn’t for the rev limiter that kicks in at 10,000 RPM, we’re sure it can go faster.

Bajaj has packed monocross suspension on the rear and Upside Side Down forks on the front, which when combined with light weight trellis frame and Aluminum swing arm proves to make KTM Duke 200 the best handling bike in India.

Price tag of KTM Duke 200 has not been revealed yet, but it’s speculated to be priced between Rs.1.3lac to Rs.1.4lac, and at that price point, it’s a steal.
