KTM Duke 200 launched in India

The country’s second largest two wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, has finally launched the most awaited bike, the KTM Duke 200. This bike has been launched as a result of partnership with Austrian two wheeler giant, KTM, for over five years.

We’ve already written much about the bike’s technical details. Taking a quick glance at specifications, the Duke 200 is powered by a 199.5cc single cylinder motorcycle with a peak power and torque output of 25.48 bhp @ 10,000 rpm and 19.2Nm @ 8,000 rpm respectively. For icing on pastry, it comes with 6-speed transmission and USD forks. The only thing that we didn’t know was the price tag, and without further ado, it is Rs. 1.17 lakh only (ex-showroom). Yes, the killer pricetag undercuts Honda CBR 250R by a huge margin. The price tag is said to be an introductory offer, and will be likely increased in near future.

The bikes will be retailed through 34 KTM stores across India, previously known as Bajaj Probiking showrooms. Servicing will be taken care via 40 service centres dedicated only for KTM bikes. The bike has nearly 95 local components, so the spare parts are likely to be cheap, though we will know that only after delivery begins. Official booking starts on 1st February, although many stores are accepting bookings unofficially, which will ofcourse attract greater priority. KTM is playing safe by quoting a 90 day waiting period, but that is bound to decrease as the production capacity ramps up in phases. Test rides will commence somewhere around mid Feb, so we’ve our fingers crossed until then.
