Yamaha Motors India recently launched its second version of R15 in India and it has received a warm welcome despite being costlier than the previous version, on-road pricing as high as 1.27lac. There have been rumors about Honda CBR150R’s foray into India, though few people claimed that the bike won’t be in par with the emission standards in India, which obviously isn’t true.
One of the XBHP forum members has dug out some useful information from the Honda Vellore Managing Director. Words of a Managing Director of some showroom obviously cannot be considered as official words, however, we can take his words as a hint and it seems like India may get a 150cc powered bike by Honda, the CBR150R. The intention behind introducing CBR150R could be the launch of Yamaha R15 Version 2.0.
The member also says, the firm is looking forward for its fourth plant in South India and the location could be Tamil Nadu. Also, reveals that introducing a 650cc bike in India will be too early for India as the market for this segment is still not mature enough.
The price tag of R15 version 2.0 is dangerously close to CBR250R. If ever CBR 150R is launched, Honda should make sure that the price tag is less than Yamaha’s R15 in order to capture the 150cc performance segment.
