Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI), the two wheeler manufacturer, the brand which is visible anywhere and everywhere on roads, is speculated to be a market leader very soon. In April 2013 also Honda recorded a 31% sales growth. The company sold 259,560 units, which is the highest number the company has sold in history. While Honda is increasing numbers its rivals, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto, are losing their hold on the market. We can say Honda Is stealing the space out of other manufacturers and to prove if it is right, we checked the sales figures of the other two rivals.
Hero MotoCorp, which sold 5,51,557 units during April 2012 sold only 4,99,113 units in April 2013, which means a sales drop of 9.15%. Bajaj Auto on the other hand sold 3,42,324 units during April 2012, but sold only 3,00,827 units in April 2013. These falling figures made the company automatically slip to no 3rd position.
Honda, which targets to being the no. 1 manufacturer of two wheelers by 2015-16, plans to sell around 10 million units of vehicles by 2020. To make this ambition come true, the company is launching new vehicles time and again and updating its existing products. These efforts by Honda have beefed up its position in the market; making it the second largest two wheeler manufacturer. Nevertheless, we can say that Bajaj is going to give Honda the tough competition, Bajaj Is all ready to bounce back and grab the position it has lost. Bajaj is all set to introduce two new Bajaj Pulsar and six new Discover Series bikes in 2013. We can say now that Bajaj is a better challenger to Honda than Hero MotoCorp. Hero which currently holds the number one position is still the market leader irrespective of the dropping sales figures. Hero MotoCorp will be a tough nut to crack for Honda and Bajaj for at least next 5 years. Let’s see who wins the game and who loses. It is surely an interesting battle between the three companies.
