Hero Motocorp launched the on-road/off-road model, Impulse, few months back as their debut model. It is also the only vehicle of its kind currently under production in the Indian market. It’s an excellent bike, but lacks the power which people crave for, and that’s when Honda steps in to fill the gap with help of CRF250L.

Honda has announced that it will be launching its new CRF250L on-road/off-road motorcycle in the global market this year. The bike will be first launched in Japan on 14th May, 2012, while other countries will follow suite.

The Honda CRF250L Dual Sport comes with a tag line ‘New On & Off Gear, your right buddy on the road’ to make ‘On’ (daily life) more convenient and ‘Off’ (weekends) more enjoyable.” The bike will be powered by a 249.6cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder mill, and yes, it’s the same engine which is on Honda CBR250R, but in a different state of tune according to the requirements. The engine makes a good 23 PS of peak power @ 8500 RPM and healthy 22 NM of peak torque @ 7000 RPM, and when mated with 6 speed gearbox gives a fuel efficiency figure of 44.3 km/l at a constant speed of 60km/hr.

Honda CRF 250L Dual Sport incorporates upside-down suspensions on the front and while swing-arm pro-Link type suspension does the job at rear. We can expect Honda to launch this machine in the Indian market next year. When launched, we don’t expect the price tag to be any less than Rs. 1.3 lakhs.
