Honda CBR 250R

Honda Motorcyle and Scooters India (HMSI), one of the leading manufacturer of two wheelers in India, known for its highly refined engines has now officially announced its entry into the Indian premium two wheeler segment with Honda CBR250R as its first powerful offering. The bike has already received immense appraisal across the world and it’s India’s turn now.

Honda CBR250R is a bike powered by a 250cc mill from Honda and will be competing with the world’s best selling 250cc bike, Kawasaki’s Ninja 250R. The new 2011 CBR250R will be equipped with traditional CBR qualities which includes awesome performance, dynamic behavior and ease of use. The CBR250R plans on targeting new bikers but yet meeting the needs of the experienced riders as well. It is packed with high-tech features and offers great performance, all in a lightweight, and most importantly, an affordable package. Honda said that the concept behind developing CBR250R was ‘Sport Quarter for One World’.

It is a perfect street-bike with comfortable riding position and sorted ergonomics presenting it with the versatility for daily commuting, long distance touring as well as weekend corner-carving track days. For all the bikers who have been saving up all this while for a decent power-packed quarter-litre machine with corresponding handling dynamics and good comfort, the Honda CBR250R could prove to be the right choice.

Going by the specifications, the bike is powered by a single cylinder 250cc DOHC engine with 4-valves, fuel injection, liquid cooling. While the Anti-lock Brake System(ABS) is an optional feature, it ensures the safety of the bikers on wet roads and emergency situations. The CBR250R is going to be one cracker of a machine at a supremely alluring price-point that no other motorcycle in the current Indian two-wheeler bazaar offers.

The motorcycle can do a top-whack of about 160km/h and its estimated 0-100km/h sprint time is expected to be somewhere around eight seconds, which is excellent, given the current road condition.

The company has priced the standard version of the CBR250R at Rs. 1.51 lakhs, whereas the Honda CBR250R ABS is priced at Rs. 1.77 lakhs ( prices ex-showroom, Mumbai). The CBR250R is identical to the one sold in Japan except we get Continental tyres and a saree guard (Indian rulez!). The bike is available at select 400 dealerships across the country and is available in three colours namely Black, Silver and Red.  Test rides will only commence by 10th April, 2011 whereas full fledged deliveries will start by the end of May.

This has been one of the most sought-after motorcycles to roll out of the Honda factory in India and it has already attracted over 2500 bookings across the country since the bookings commenced in January 2011.
