Daniel Ricciardo To Make Formula One Debut At Silverstone Race!

India’s Narain Karthikeyan who was on for Hispania Racing Team(HRT) in Formula One is now likely to be replaced by the 22-year-old Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo. The young and capable Aussie driver will make his F1 debut at the next weekend’s race at Silverstone.

Daniel has tied-up with Red Bull racing team but the team thinks HRT as the best platform for their newbie driver to build up himself.

“Hispania and Red Bull Racing signed an alliance which allows young Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo to be an official driver of the Spanish team. The current F1 champion team has shown trust in Hispania and has chosen HRT as a support for the development of its driver. Ricciardo will be the official driver of Hispania Racing alongside Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan from the British Grand Prix,” said a release from HRT.

The Spanish team has preserved Indian driver, Narain, but either Narain or Liuzzi will be dropped for the race at Silverstone which will take place next week. The team has just confirmed Daniel to race for their team at Silverstone. However, we still don’t know if Narain will be dropped for rest of the season. If HRT drops Narain from rest of the races, Indian fans will be heavily disappointed, as many would have already dreamt Indian driver to race at the Indian track which is will be held at Buddh International Circuit on October 30.

Daniel has won the highly competitive British Formula Three championship in 2009 and was also a runner-up in the Formula Renault 3.5 series.  Later, in 2011 he was named as Toro Rosso’s 2011 reserve driver.  He will again race at Formula Renault 3.5 this season.

After making an agreement with the HRT, Daniel said, “It was a dream come true for me. For the first time on an F1 starting grid! I had to pinch myself a couple of times to be sure that it’s real.

“I’m excited and can hardly wait to drive at Silverstone. It’s a new challenge, a new experience, a new team, but I’m ready and will give my best in any event,” he added.
